Founded in 2016, the project is a community-owned, trustless Proof-of-Stake system compatible with Ethereum 2.0. Its target users include those participating in tokenized staking via rETH and individuals seeking higher returns by operating Ethereum nodes. The protocol aims to lower entry barriers, such as the 32 ETH requirement for solo staking and the technical complexities of running a node, thus enabling more crypto users to stake ETH. When users stake ETH, they receive an equal amount of rETH, which maintains a 1:1 peg with ETH.
