What is Mars (MARS)?
Mars is a credit protocol designed for the future: it is non-custodial, open-source, transparent, algorithmic, and governed by the community. Like traditional banks, Mars seeks to attract deposits and lend this money while managing risks related to illiquidity and insolvency. Unlike banks, Mars operates fully automatically on-chain, with its credit infrastructure governed by a decentralized community through transparent governance processes. All decisions are made by the Martian Council, which consists of MARS stakers who have a vested interest in the protocol’s risk management, in exchange for a portion of the borrowing fees.
