Franklin Templeton Seeks Approval for ETFs That Reinvest Stock Dividends in Bitcoin
Franklin Templeton has filed for two exchange-traded funds that would use stock dividends to buy Bitcoin, one covering US equities and one covering innovation stocks.
Franklin Templeton has submitted registration documents for two exchange-traded funds designed to channel the dividends paid by their underlying stocks into Bitcoin. The filings describe a structure in which income generated by equity holdings is reinvested in the largest cryptocurrency rather than paid out in cash.
The two products are set to be listed on the Nasdaq exchange and both would be issued under the same trust. One fund targets a portfolio tied to US equities, while the other focuses on companies working in innovation-driven sectors.
Fund structure
Under the proposed design, the funds would hold equity positions and direct the dividends they receive toward Bitcoin purchases. The approach combines a traditional equity income stream with exposure to a digital asset, giving investors a single listed vehicle instead of separate holdings.
The filings remain subject to regulatory review, and no launch date has been announced in the materials available so far.
Market context
Bitcoin (
$BTC-2.02%) was trading near $80,238 at the time of the data snapshot, down 0.41% over the previous 24 hours and 3.12% lower over seven days. Trading volume over the last day stood at roughly $8.63 billion.
The filing comes at a time when asset managers continue to test ways to bring crypto exposure into conventional investment products, with Bitcoin remaining the central reference asset for such strategies.
