What is EigenLayer (EIGEN)?
EigenLayer is a system built on Ethereum that allows ETH stakers to restake their tokens and extend their validation duties. By staking with EigenLayer, stakers can validate various new modules and services built on Ethereum, like data availability layers or oracle networks. This process involves allowing EigenLayer to impose additional penalties (slashing) on their staked ETH if they act maliciously. In return, stakers earn additional rewards from these modules. EigenLayer provides a way to aggregate Ethereum's security across multiple services, strengthening decentralized applications.
