Surfshark is a virtual private network (VPN) service that provides encrypted internet connections through a network of servers in many countries. It was launched in 2018 and is part of the Nord Security group, which was co-founded by Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas.
Surfshark offers apps for common operating systems and browsers, allows an unlimited number of simultaneous device connections, and includes CleanWeb, a built-in ad and tracker blocker, along with obfuscation features for use on restrictive networks. It is aimed at individual users who want to protect their connection on several devices and at those seeking access to geo-restricted content.
The CMC Score combines public data — traffic, app ratings, security record, age, community and market size — with users' reviews. Missing data is skipped rather than counted as zero, and the less is known about a company, the closer its score stays to the middle of the scale.
