Maecenas (their currency ticker is ART) is the project that is aimed at promoting and developing the global art economy. There is already non-insignificant number of financial transactions being made that are connected to the world of arts. A certain painting might be first purchased for a few hundred thousand dollars, only to be sold a couple of years later for millions and millions. Participating in such a market is a difficult task for a person using the traditional financial institutions: there is no such thing as the NASDAQ in the sector of arts. Maecenas is aiming to be just that: allow anybody from any part of the world to participate in an auction, acquire a certain art piece, and then, obviously, sell it after its value has risen considerably due to a myriad of different factors. The Maecenas’ focus at the moment is at the art objects valued by the experts at one million dollars or above, so as to allow for a much higher-class clients and much more influential pieces of art to be traded easily.
