FoldingCoin is a token that is used to reward people for their computing force at Folding@home. Because of increasing community support.
Folding@home is a program found by Stanford University that started in 2000 and uses computer power for science researches. The idea is to imitate the protein folds in our organism with the help of computing machines. The results of such simulations are very important as they are then used to explore some diseases like cancer, for example.
Usually, organizations spend huge sums of money on supercomputers to be able to do these imitations. But today with Folding@home(FAH) and current internet potential we can make it easier. The working process can be divided into the parts called Work Units. Then, FAH program sends these Units to anyone who launches its program. The program thus get more computing force for its researches without using supercomputers but with the help of community.
After the process Folding@home rewards each folder who helped them with FLDC monthly. The rewards amount depends on the job done by the computer. Moreover, FLDC is built on the BTC blockchain, so every single transaction is BTC transaction at the same time.
